The Situation

• It is a sign of our times: behavior and activities are proving more than ever to be short-term and short-sighted. That goes for politics as well as for parts of the economy.  Modern society is living beyond its means at the expense of the future.
• Society and politics lack an overall concept. In practice, individual problems are considered and treated in isolation while interactions and connections are overlooked.  This leads to unexpected and undesired side-effects in other areas, making new action a necessity while increasing the amount of detailed regulation.
• Instead of setting the parameters so that the desired goals are achieved through self-regulation, more and more functioning systems are damaged or destroyed by detailed regulations.
• Last but not least, political action is not determined by a topic’s importance, but by the current degree of suffering. Problems cannot to be solved this way - quite the contrary. 

What We Do

• Studienbüro Jetzt & Morgen develops holistic and system-compatible analyses, strategies, and concepts concerning structural social problems and transformation.  Important keywords are sustainability, generational equity, and economical efficiency.
• We examine in fundamental research - according to our comprehensive insight - what conditions society must fulfill in order to qualify as sustainable and get its problems under control. 
• We are more concrete in other projects, indicating for a chosen topic which demands arise from the goal and necessity of sustainability.
• And finally, we develop concrete strategies for sustainable behavior - at the social as well as corporate and industrial level.
• Founder and head of the research group is Andreas Becker. The industrial engineer, with experience from research and industry, studied under the late system cybernetisist, Professor Frederic Vester, and has been occupied with economical, ecological, and social topics for years.
