There is widespread consensus that economic and social improvement ignoring environmental implications is a dead-end street. Businesses´ endeavours to market ecologically sound products have only just begun. They will acquire several unique benefits apart from saving costs for waste disposal and purchasing of resources. Politicians are now beginning to discuss topics such as ecological tax reforms more seriously than ever before. Moreover, many people are wiling to contribute their part to reduce envionmental damages.
However, current environmental management is only mending occuring damage instead of taking preventive measures. As a consequence a crisis of trust is developing among citizens who are conscious of environmental problems. An example: With so-called recycable materials being simply stored or sent around the world, it becomes increasingly difficult to call upon people to separate their garbage.
Active environmental protection offers a variety of possibilities to which citizens and industries can turn. Next to the already established concepts of recycling and utilization, there is a number of new ideas.However, active environmental protection offers a variety of possibilities, to which citizens and industries can turn. Next to the well-known concepts of recycling and utilization, there is a wealth of new ideas. Ideas, for instance, for how one can save raw materials and energy; and how one can use products longer, more sensibly, with greater consideration for the environment, and in the end, discover new uses for them. Also concepts that could encourage businesses to sell their products with the future in mind, instead of only to their own advantage, and to open new perspectives to them and the service-society. As such a path opens up new perspectives to the industry and the service-society, it will also bring about economic advantages.
